2019 U.S. Open leaderboard: Live coverage, Tiger Woods score, golf scores on Friday

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Justin Rose made his way to the top of the leaderboard late on Thursday in one of the “easiest” first rounds in recent U.S. Open history. He led at that time by one over a group that includes Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler, by three over Rory McIlroy and by four over Brooks Koepka, among others. Rose did it mostly with his putter in Round 1, which means we could get an early lead change if the putter goes cold in Round 2.

Tiger Woods was not as fortunate, sitting five back of Rose by the time the day ended. He has continued his up-and-down play at Pebble Beach on Friday with one birdie and no bogeys through his first 12 holes. There’s plenty of golf left for him to try and make some headway. The problem? Rose has continued his tremendous pace and already added two strokes to his lead as he sat 8 under through his first nine holes of the day and remains three up on those immediately behind him.
