An elderly woman was struck and dragged by a city bus in Manhattan on Monday morning, authorities said.
The 70-year-old victim was in the crosswalk on Second Avenue, walking from East 35th Street to East 36th Street, around 9:30 a.m. when she was hit by a Q44 MTA bus as the vehicle made a left turn, cops said.
The bus ran over the woman’s left foot and dragged her roughly 30 feet, police said.
The victim suffered a broken pelvis and an injured foot, authorities said. She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center in serious but stable condition.
“She was trying to cross the street, and the bus was turning, and the two clashed,” said a construction worker who saw the crash. “You could hear screams coming from under the bus — she was pinned underneath.”
The bus driver remained at the scene. No arrests were made.
