- Lauren Hashian and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson got married over the weekend.
- The couple is famously private about their 12 year relationship.
- Here’s what you need to know about Lauren.
Dwayne Johnson and his longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian recently got married, and the Hawaiian nuptials looked gorgeous. The couple has been together since 2007, but they’re also pretty private about their life together. While we all know and love The Rock—the successful wrestler who managed to become the world’s highest-paid actor—we know a lot less about Lauren.
Here’s what you need didn’t know about Lauren Hashian.
Lauren Hashian is the daughter of drummer Sib Hashian.
Sib was a drummer for the rock band Boston, and he appeared on the band’s self-titled debut album and their well as on the follow-up Don’t Look Back. He later left the band when Boston’s original drummer, Jim Masdea, returned to the band. In 1980, Sib was also the drummer for fellow Boston member Barry Goudreau‘s solo album, and their song “Dreams” was a moderate hit.
Hashian grew up in Massachusetts.
Hashian grew up in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, which is about half an hour from Boston. She later went to Emerson College, where she graduated with a B.A. in public relations and communications.
Hashian told Coveteur that she actually won a music award while she was in college:
“There was a group of kids that went to the same school as me—to Emerson College in Boston. We formed this little collective and started turning our dorm rooms into recording studios. Our school was big into the arts, and it supported kids’ creativity. There was a [school] show called The Emmy Awards, and it was a version of the Grammys or the Emmy Awards. Myself and this kid who called himself ‘Reality’ recorded a song—I sang and he rapped—and we ended up winning the award that year. I felt really proud that we had been acknowledged and recognized for our writing, so that’s when I thought, ‘OK, maybe I should start seriously looking into this.'”
She’s a singer-songwriter.
Hashian has been writing and performing music for over 15 years, according to her Spotify biography. It states, “She spent several of those years working at Warner Music Group and in Paramount Film’s music department before breaking off to focus on song-writing and working directly with recording artists. Her songs have been featured on networks like HBO, TNT and UPN.”
One of Hashian’s singles, “Go Hard,” was used as an official song for the WNBA’s 2017 season.
Hashian and The Rock first met in 2006.
The couple met in Boston, where The Game Plan was filming, and they started dating in 2007. The couple has always been low-key about their relationship, and Johnson didn’t open up about their relationship until 2015.
“I’ve lived with my longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, going on, like, eight, nine years now. She’s a singer-songwriter. We spend a lot of time with my daughter in Florida, Simone, who’s 13,” Johnson told Esquire. “We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn’t mentioned and my daughter isn’t mentioned. I always like making sure we find the balance and my home life is in there and Lauren Hashian is in there and my daughter is in there.”
Hashian and The Rock share two kids together.
Hashian and Johnson welcome their daughter Jasmine in December 2015, and their second daughter, Tiana, was born in April 2018. Johnson also shares an 18-year-old daughter, Simone, with his ex-wife Dany Garcia.
Hashian also talked to Coveteur about how she and Johnson balance their work and personal life. “Having babies definitely does change the landscape of your life, [and] you have to figure out what works for you. In my case, we travel so much for work…I’m with them from the time they wake up until nap time, which is like, 2:00 to 3:00 PM for Jazzy,” Hashian explained. “If I’m going to work that day, I wait until she goes to sleep, then I go to work for four to five hours…It’s amazing when you have kids and you have goals, you just find a way to fit it all in, and you don’t necessarily work harder with your time, you just work smarter and find a way to get it all done.”
