The wooden interior of Paris’ historic Notre Dame cathedral will probably not survive the massive blaze that ripped through the building Monday — while first responders are trying to save the priceless art inside, according to officials.
The interior of the 12th century building caught fire in the conflagration, and will likely be destroyed, Notre Dame spokesman Andre Finot told local media.
“Everything is burning, nothing will remain from the frame,” he said.
Meanwhile, Paris Deputy Mayor Emmanuel Gregoire told local news network BFMTV that workers were still trying to salvage the works of art stored there.
